Linux version won't start - libCSteamworks not found

I'm getting just a black screen without sound.  Here's the relevant bit from the log:

Okay, that was super strange.  I really apologize, but it appears that when we upgraded unity versions that got removed.  The strange bit is, for some folks that remained and so it worked fine on their linux machines, but in other cases it would be absent.  Why it was sometimes there I'm not sure, but it should be there all the time now, knock on wood.  It actually will be in StarwardRogueLinux_Data/Plugins/x86_64, but it should be found there as well.

Well, apparently that wasn't the problem because I'm still getting the same issue (black screen with sound, if I hit enter a few times it sounds like the game starts because someone starts talking to me).  Log is attached but doesn't seem to be showing any errors.  For comparison's sake, AI War runs fine.

Edit: I was going to attach the log but the forum seems to think it's too big at 18K.

Okay, it may be a driver thing then, probably related to fullscreen mode.  If you switch it to windowed mode, I imagine it will run fine, and then you can experiment with various fullscreen settings.  There are some easy instructions on how to do that here: https://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,18556.msg200003.html#msg200003

You might also be sure to verify your steam cache, just in case it didn't download something properly.

That mostly works in windowed mode aside from it's propensity for crashing Gnome3.

Hmm, that's really odd in terms of that crashing.  I'm not really sure what to say on that one; sounds like some sort of conflict between that and the unity 3d engine, but I'm not sure what it would be.
