It almost makes me want to watch more and give it another chance, just because of that.

I've heard this said so often I can only laugh  :D I have not seen a show that has caused so many people to say "I don't think I like it. But I want to see another one to be sure..."
Life is short. Have fun.

I am not even gonna hide it. I have watched it all.

I am not into this kind of stuff usually, nor anime for that matter. Heck i seldom even bother with any seris now a days. But it is somethign with these ponies that drew me in. At first I saw some trailer remakes with ponies, then the memes, then I started wondering what was up with these ponies. To youtube I went. Then some hours later I had seen all current episodes at that time.

I dunno, there is something about the theme of friendship I can realte to I think. I discoverd a few years ago that what made me happy, like real happy, was my friends. Not gadgets, not money, not a fansy title or job, but spending time with friends. I guess this show plays on these strings a lot. Plus the quality work is a huge plus. Well developed characters for once, despite being sugar sweet, is welcome in any series.

Am I outside target audience? Yes, as far as can get I think... And I can watch a 3 hour documentary about the monatary system after watching one pony episode

So now I watch game of thrones, and my little pony ;) I don't go all crazy about it tho, I watch the new episode when it comes and that is that, except a few fun vids I find on reddit now and then.

I do not have sound right now, but from the title I guess its supposed to insinuate that I am a homosexual for liking MLP?

The video describes exactly what was said.I hope there is some context that I don't understand. The potential negative connotations annoy me but I have been accused of much worse  ;)

Indeed. I am not worried about being percived as homosexual. I mean, it is just a sexual preference, and I happen to be secure in my sexuality. I know people that are gay, like my cousin. And so what? He is still a human being like me. It is no big deal at all.

What bothers me is the negative association, and the attempt to use it in a derogotary fashion, just becuase I am a dude that likes what he likes. I saw MLP, and I liked it, that is that. I like to analyze and think, and I have tried ot analyze why I like MLP, becuse it did seem unexpected at first. But it is not that wierd really, placed in the context of my life and when I looked at what the show actually contains.

Perhaps it is a joke I am not getting or something. If it implies what I think it does, I think it is in bad taste, not just against me, but agaisnt thoose that actually are homosexual as well.

;)

I think this is probably just a case of reading too much into an offhanded silly joke. I'm ambivalent about the use of words like 'gay' as a pejorative. I would be lying if I said I never used it when among friends (but obviously not among acquaintances or in general public discourse) in a sort of ironic way. But then that's my personality, I feel that turning something into a joke robs it of its strength while avoiding it as if it were an un-sayable word gives it too much credence. On the other hand, it's arguably in the same category as using a racial slur jokingly, which is a whole other can of worms that I hope to keep a lid on. On the third hand, I don't know that's it's really all that offensive in the first place. Looking for something to be offended by is a too-common human trait.

All that aside, I'm fairly sure that regardless of what TV shows you like or dislike, it will have absolutely no effect on which sex you buy drinks for when you go to the bar.

I just do really inappropriate things to people who call me gay, so they either think I am or are too weirded out to bother me further.

heh :)

I did not feel insulted, but, what shall I say, just getting tired of the old "then you must be gay" thing, regardless if it was in jest or not. If I really was defencive about it, I would never said I liked the show in the first place ;)
