I don't think they had a concept of range when one cluster spawned on my assault wormole ::)

Oh well, raided down the other cluster and mopped up the swarmers in the safety of one of my systems, I just need to rebuild my spire corvettes and attack in force.
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

Like i said, i popped them both (first one while watching in horror as I lost corvettes and their numbers shot up quickly while I retreated, second by raid starships) and the second with dedicated range. But the damage was kind of done at that point, with 50+ viral shredder equivalents glued to my butt making me leave the system =p

See previous response ;)

Anyway, yea, the swarmers are... "interesting".

...5 starships.

5 frickin starships. THat's all i have left of my 15+ squad.

I think the AI has a batman squad or something, a buttload of fighters, polarizers, siege engines, and medic frigates popped out of nowhere to maul my fleet. Didn't register as threat or anything :S

Yeah, I remember when you first implemented the Swarmers. Me and King assaulted a homeworld, and all of a sudden the universe was filled with angry, replicating, teleporting blades everywhere. They kept multiplying to the point of my computer just giving up and saying "You know what? YOU do the calculations! I going for a vacation."

Tiny update for the multiplayer game... 65 planets colonized, 8 more destroyed but not colonized.  Just started the super terminal (it is in our way) and we have an utterly ridiculous amount of stuff guarding it.

Progress: We hit (I think) around 1270 AIP, pre-ST.  We are into progress IV.  Killed all the special forces guard posts on our planets.  This was partly an act of arrogant defiance, but mainly done in the vain hope that it'll make the special forces blob not get as high.  The special forces blob has around 68,000 troops and looks like a pack of spilled necco wafers.  There's a smaller blob standing at 12,000ish.

Zeyurn will post screenshots when he gets home.

Maybe the AI will just give up.

It will actually help (the boost they get from posts in your territory exceeds the boost they get from 1 AIP), though you're still in for a truly massive SF force.  I recommend frequent application of nuclear warheads.

I miss martyrs the most out of all the asteroid ships.   It may interest you to know that we've literally crashed the game with martyrs before by flying like 10 of them into a similar special forces blob, which all popped and then died at once.  We were actually talking about nuking the special forces but we'll see.

Do bear in mind this change that came with 6.014:

Quote
* Now when a carrier is nuked, all its not-immune-to-nukes units are destroyed rather than deployed.  This makes them more consistent with transports (which use a different internal mechanic, but the player doesn't really see the difference usually).
** Thanks to Faulty Logic for reminding us that fridges are not, in fact, going to protect you from a nuclear explosion.  Even very large fridges with guns.

So chances are you'd kill most of the SF stuff in there without it ever being added to the simulation; they're not actually "in the game" while they're in there (unlike transports, which just store the actual units).

We might try to kill it straight just to see if we can, but that note makes the proposition of a nuke much more tempting....

A story of trials, tribulations, and glory, told in picture form.

I especially like our Superterminal setup.  We figured if 1250 AIP isn't killing us 1500 isn't either, so our new goal is to make the superterminal hit the progress floor from 1250.

And more pictures!

The Grand Murdoch Empire of Former Earthlings continues its epic conquest towards total galactic domination

Keith:  I don't know if you have any questions about what we do to just blitz stuff but if you have any questions about any of our methods and such, feel free to ask.  Since I don't know what entirely you're looking for out of the experiment I'm mostly just posting the most epic pictures and trying to let them speak for themselves!

It brings back old memories of 1.x when we didn't realize you and Chris even assumed AIP was something to avoid and we would take every planet each game.  Then we read how you're 'intended' to play and were like..  but how do you defend your planets?  That sounds crazy!  Much better and safer to just take everything.  (yes the three of us have been playing like this since the game was released off and on!)
