I'm not aiming for a massive simultaneous assassination, but currently I am extremely aggressive with my neutering. Perhaps abnormally so, given the new guard post difficulty, and my normal use of currently unavailable superweapons. I currently have every single adjacent planet neutered, but since I'm hoping to push forward and grab fabricators and starship constructors before sealing off my area and clearing out the backworlds, I figure it'll save me a headache with all these eyes and fortresses.

...I might give in to save scumming once I've reached that point, and see what happens when I pop 10-30 systems in the course of an hour.

Well uh the AI has decided to blitz me so I'm not sure what my plans are here. We'll see how far I get in defending this push :O
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Just thought I'd mention two things I came across and are fresh in my mind:

EMP Guardian explosion notices on planets I don't have visual on is a) annoying, b) abusive.  I have an EMP Guardian in the Threat Fleet, so this currently lets me track where in the galaxy the entire threat fleet is.

Why doesn't the threat fleet show up on the map filter for threat?  I thought it did, but I conclusively found it does not.  Is that a bug?

Oh, right.  Fixed for 6.020, thanks.

Yea, it should show as threat.  Save?

I'll see if I can duplicate.  That stupid EMP has killed all my pickets so I don't have the same vision I had before and its tough to track them at the moment, especially because Special Forces is mixed in.  It is possible that's been messing me up, but I've had this issue before in other games and this just reminded me.  If I get something definitive I'll post a mantis bug for it.

Well, if it's EMPing your scouts, the game should tell you about the EMP. Also, if it leaves a system while a scout is there, it should tell you, because that's something the scout could observe.

(EMPs seem like a good reason to put some Scout Starships or Spirecraft Scouts on picket)

Yeah, it certainly should.  But I get the message even when it is in systems I've never been to.  It went something like 6 hops back into AI space, and notified me every step of the way.

Maybe you drew the "Arrogant" AI Type.

Maybe it was the "Little Drummer Boy" AI.

Keith, do you want us to avoid using a ST to crank down the progress in this test?
Sure, that's fair play.  It may make the overall game's result more ST-related than AIP-related.  Have y'all run into the new-ish ST-hacking response in an earlier game?

We've done the hacking SuperTerminal on an 8/8 with the 3 of us where we went from no hacking done to Extreme (Forest Fire!) and somewhat beyond with 11ish fortresses and 9 modular fortresses on that planet (Mil-3 command of course) as well as about 4000 of our fleet ships / starships and gravity turrets _everywhere_ (this was pre grav-nerf but I don't know that it would have mattered).  We eventually got bored and just stopped the experiment because the floor was higher than our progress and we were ready for the AI homeworlds but I feel like we chunked the progress down a good 200 or more.

On a different 8/8 game we just let the terminal spew until it was at Forest Fire and watched the zombies dribble into our chokepoints then assassinated the superterminal with a cloaked ship we'd left sitting there on pause (a Champion but I imagine it works with anything)

As an unrelated aside we also found out not to hack an ARS when you're already at Extreme and you had Dark Spire on! (although that may have been patched since then too)

This would be an interesting option -- AIs that do things that are actually bad for them, like stopping to monologue at you, or fighting with honor.

You know how a game with the Hamlet AI is going to end: with everybody dead.

SF has about 28k ships
Nuke it?

MK III EMP and Lightning didn't dent it lol (supported with 1200 various fleet/ss).  Nuke is the only other option so I'm done with it.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.
