DRM for Expansion?
« on: November 27, 2009, 05:49:03 pm »
I own the base AI:Wars and enoying the game greatly.  I'm thinking about purchasing the expansion and just had a question.  Will the expansion have the same license key check as the base game and not require a "phone home" interet check or anything like that?  Reason I ask because I read the expansion was going to be available on Steam and I am very anti-steam.

If the expansion has the identical non-intrusive key check as the base game, I am in.

The DRM (or rather, lack thereof) is the same in the expansion as in the base game.  The base game is also available on Steam, but the Steam-related features and requirements are completely limited to the Steam version.  If you use the version from our site, never any DRM!

Furthermore, the Steam version gives you a license key that you can use to unlock the non-Steam version, so Steam users aren't locked into that version. We definitely don't want restrictive DRM preventing people from enjoying our games.
