far zoom styles on main view

is there a way to have the far zoom style on main view as a setting instead of having to press F9 all the time?

if i press F9 it changes it to that mode but only for the small amount of time that the button is pressed.

i think it is easier to differentiate between the different ship types if i only have to worry about the icons instead of the icons and the different graphics for all the marks or certain ship types.

Yes, there is a slider in the Interface tab (or maybe Graphics tab, I don't recall) of the settings window.  That lets you set when it goes to icons versus non-icons.
