Bought from GOG, updated to 1.004, can't save

See above. When I try to save my current game, an empty save box comes up. Clicking the "save" button below that doesn't do anything. Clicking the mouse anywhere in the box doesn't do anything. Typing doesn't do anything. The only option is to cancel.

How do I save?

(BTW this is a "quick start" game on easy difficulty, no ironman or any other advanced options)
