Can't start a new game after deleting my save?

I got quite a bit of playtime in, but I deleted my save once and can't start a new game anymore.

I attached a screenshot and the error log in a Mantis ticket:

I've tried re-installing and made sure that all the game data I'm aware off (anything in the Starward Rogue steamapps/common directory) was deleted, disabled Steam Cloud for the game, and restarted my PC, but the issue still persists.

I'm not sure what could be persisting at this point.

Did a library somewhere get corrupted or something?

It's not in the patch notes, but for some reason .852 "fixed" my game.

To be thorough I tried testing the issue again. It is still there, but not nearly as consistent and when it does happen it can now be solved by a wipe and reinstall.
It seems can still happen occasionally via repeated testing (restarting, deleting games, and trying them over and over) but at least it doesn't seem nearly as bad.

I've added a new note to the ticket.
