Looking for errors in all the right places
« on: June 07, 2015, 01:03:40 am »
Today I ran across a couple Natural wonders that had bonuses that aren't relevant, namely building crowns upkeep.

Looking around I saw some other small errors that will need attention, but aren't priority things.  I asked Chris if he wanted Mantis reports on it and he said it would be a good idea (and remind him that they need attention).

So I'm asking all testers to help compile errors in resources as they are now.  Things in game are subject to change, but if we start documenting what needs a change as the mechanics shift about, we make things easier on Chris and Keith in the long run.

Note: don't go adding stuff because you don't like the bonus.  Start a discussion on those separately.   :)

Anyway, add things here in this thread or in the mantis tickets.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

For most of these things we either have the Excel files or can otherwise identify the text more easily than searching in game. I did the wonder list (I think I got them all), the resource list is a little trickier, there are 80 of them, so I got the list of bonuses instead. For the resource text coloring, I don't know what you mean.

Gez ptarth, you could have posted that stuff here and we could have sorted it out.  :D

I don't go file surfing, it's not my thing.  I've had enough sorting through files to do me a lifetime.  Purpose here would be to catch things as changes happen so they get noted that these specific things need an update and for (x) reason.  The crowns upkeep is one that happened while I was in beta (don't know about before that).

I updated the highlighting one.. You should be able to see it.

Bah, you and your 4 meg pngs.

We should make Chris enable a default screenshot as midres jpg (and have the png as an option).

highlight - fixed in previous version

resources- actually I don't see any ones that aren't valid. Not useful sure, but not not valid. There aren't any upkeep reductions.

I try to keep things easy. It makes me sad when people end up doing a ton of work for no good reason.

I can't help it.

Highlight - found in the current version... so maybe back?

If there aren't any then cool... keep it in mind if there are changes.

found a wonder that isn't exactly outdated but it serves no purpose in the map its on the the infinity vortex in eropia since you cant do anything sea related in eropia (as far as I know any way) then its existence is meaningless. edit just found deep water  so I guess it doesn't warrant removing the infinity vortex from this map unless its because the condition of the ice is linked to how hot the temperature is? if its not I'm going to suggest this on mantis.
