Spring RTS
« on: August 17, 2012, 05:11:52 pm »
So I remember checking this out a long time ago, and the main thing that stuck with me was there was a "jokes page" easily accessed that had some pretty poor taste in what it considered "funny", and I thus never tried any of it's games. After having investigated it now, they seem to be a lot more professional in presenting their content, and I think I might be willing to give it a whirl.

Is the Evolution RTS any good? I don't know about the details of how legal the TA-alikes are (and they are indeed marked as not endorsed by the spring RTS team) so I doubt I'll be trying any of those.

My friends and I play it pretty regularly, we use Balanced Annihilation.  If you ever played Total Annihilation you should fit right in.

I haven't really played much of Evolution RTS, it doesn't really appeal to me that much.  It's kind of a re-imagining of Total Annihilation where there aren't different factions or tiers, there are just a crap ton of different kinds of factories.

So like Air Factory, Kbot Factory, Mech Factory, Invis Kbot Factory, Vehicle Factory, Hovercraft Factory, Ship Factory, etc. - that all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

I can't comment that much on it but I can definitely vouch for BA, it's a wonderful game to play, especially with friends.

I used to really love Spring. I spent like many many hours on it..

I think I was there at some point during the early days of Evo RTS. It had a really good concept, and a lot of pretty good art. It was a lot mroe simple back then..

I really used to like NOTA? The one where instead of a commander you started with a giant tower, that built stuff. It really felt more like I was commanding a base, and playing macro games.
I REALLY LOVED NOTA's shipbased combat too. It was amazing. Like. Absolutely. Amazing.

If you remind me sometime if youre on I can redownload it and do some games.
