The game itself looks awesome, but it does not have single-player, so there is no point for me playing it.

I got the game a while ago, definitely looks awesome.  If it ever gets bots I'll probably spend a lot of time playing it :)
You and your obsession with bots!  I guess now I know why you're the lead developer for AI War :D
Competing with other people isn't really fun for me.  Co-op is fine, but either way a computer (or sometimes boardgame/DM) has to fill in the opposition role ;)

Would a game that utilizes a thousand monkeys at a thousand computers acting as the opponent be sufficient for you?

Is the next link in the chain "Well, that's what online multiplayer is like"? ;)

In general my priorities on this particular topic are (in descending order) :
1) Not getting yelled at by other people.
2) Not feeling "winning is more important than having fun" pressure from other people.
3) Having access to a decent challenge that lasts a while (so bots with a difficulty slider that goes up high enough, for example).
4) Optional but nice: Being able to walk away from the game in the middle with no notice without annoying anyone (I have a three-year-old and a five-year-old; they have an amazing ability to time crises with the last part of an online match)

So my guess is that your proposed solution would satisfy 1, 2, and 4, but not 3 ;)

While your statement about it being next in the chain is true, I was going to go with "It's good enough for Shakespeare." ;)

For writing, I'd agree, but we're talking about something far more important: shooting pictures in the face ;)

For the most part, I found ns2 fairly relaxed. It was nice not to be doing a moba..

Though in ns2 the concept of "feeding" is far more literal.

NS2 is fairly relaxed (well, as relaxed as it can be with hungry aliens jumping from ceilings and eating your face).  The people are usually pretty nice, and there's no that much individual pressure to do well, mostly because it's much harder to keep track of what each person is even doing anyway.  Even if you die, you respawn almost instantly, so it's very non-stress.  Of all the team-based FPS games out there, it's probably the best for casual players (that I've seen) because you've literally got a person telling you where to go and what to do, and teamwork is so important that your entire team is always communicating.

It's actually really cool, the environment is so well-done that when I hear my teammates talking over the radio, sometimes I pretend I'm in a Sci-Fi movie and the suspension of disbelief is not that hard.  "WE'RE LOSING SKYLIGHTS GUYS, WE NEED EVERYONE HERE NOW." "WE HAVE TO KILL THEIR HIVE BEFORE THEY TAKE OVER THE ENTIRE MAP." "WE NEED SUPPORT IN GRAVITY CONTROL, WE'RE GETTING OVERRUN."

It's really awesome, especially because you usually have the Commander talking, and maybe 1 or 2 Lieutenants in the field.  Until you hear a squeaky 13 year old's voice, and then you're like, "Damn".

yeah thats pretty accurate, and pretty normal for any game with voice.

Although oddly I dont see as many 13 year olds talking in planetside2.. then again, thats likely because I typically only do coordinated things with the outfit.

Very few people talk in Planetside 2 outside an outfit, I've noticed.

now and again you get that one guy who plays an overheard song in proximity voice. Its usually not bad though. I honestly dont think I would ever use prox chat if I was solo, its just nice to not clog squad/platoon if youre giving local intel.

I use prox chat sometimes to inform people near me of things of importance that can't be solved with a quick type or a spot. But it's quite rare.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned anything about the resold steam keys. I feel bad for the guys.

What?

Wow, that's freaking horrible.  Do this to f*cking EA you twats.  Not a struggling Indie Company.  Even scammers have no sense of honor.  Pathetic.
