On youtube, well, this is what happens when you have people who insist on forceful copyright make youtube magic the infringing away. Content ID and the other systems youtube have has always been (afaik) about as reliable as a long-distance shotgun shot in X-Com. But without the satisfaction you get when it actually works.

Yeah...so far I've ONLY been hit with actually legit claims (Mass Effect contains a lot of copyrighted music for instance, and Soundsense for Dwarf Fortress did initially have copyrighted music in it before they fixed that) so this came as something of a shock. Especially since it's an old DOS game from 1992! Heck, there isn't even any real music in it Oh well.

I had a video get flagged once.  Recently actually decided to do something about it.  The claim is on a tiny snipped of a movie from the 90s, the claim is being made by a studio that is so far divorced from the actual copyright owners its freaking hilarious.

It's like "Paramount produced the film in Hollywood" and the claim is from "Tiny French studio."  Pretty sure B in this case did not magically acquire the rights from A.

If the actual copyright holders were to dispute the video I might go "ok, fine, I'll take it down, even though I am pretty sure I can fair-use this one clip."  But from some random company in another country?  NO.

Ah, the youtube hilarity engine is still going at it, I see.  I don't mind copyright, etc, but in this context it often seems to be a fairly blatant case of "copyright infringement" where the copyright is doing the infringing


Anyway, congrats on the job, I hope that's a significant quality-of-life improvement for you.
