Forums are now running SMF 2.0!

At long last, noticed that the SMF 2.0 came out last month.  We've been waiting for this for a year and a half, while they went through their various RC versions, so that's nice that's finally done.  A lot more functionality, should be, as well as more security, etc.  Hopefully fewer spambots that we have to ban and delete messages from!

It looks cleaner, but at the same time, not as cool. Are you applying the old visual style eventually or is it going to stay this way?

The old visual style was basically the SMF 1.0 default theme with a very little bit of Arcen-izing.  It's actually still available if you want to select it, but it's not compatible with 2.0 so a lot of things look REALLY off.

In terms of trying to port the other one to this, definitely that's not in the plans.  But, I expect to gradually Arcen-ize the new one, given time.  Just not much time for extra stuff these days!

It's now sending topic update notification on every single post posted in a thread you are subscribed to. Before the upgrade it would only post once and then stop until you actually visited the thread.

Hmmm... I am not finding this to be the case for myself.  Not sure why it is for you, but you can change that via going into your profile, then into notification, and changing "For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me:" to be "Instantly - but only for the first unread reply."

Anyone else also seeing this setting changed for themselves on the new version?

In this case my apologies, most likely it just looked this way for me and not really happened. I checked the setting and it's correct. I'll watch for this a little bit longer, but at this stage I'm quite convinced that it was my observation mistake. Thank you.

Okay, no worries.  This is a major upgrade, so I do want to keep an eye out for stuff like that -- so thanks for keeping that eye out!

Well that was a surprise. It does seem a little more busy and less clean than the old version. I'm sure I'll get used to it though, no worries. How about adding that link to mantis that many people (just me really) have been asking for?
