X3 is better in every way except for Evochrons flight model. If only X3 allowed you to disable your thrusters in smaller craft so you can turn while still being able to drift, then it would be better in every way.
The thing that caught my eye as an advantage for Evochron Mercenaries vs X3 was that Evochron has network co-op.

ah, I heard that.

I think you can have up to 32 people. However, in the universe that is so huge, the odds of seeing even one person if the server is full is really tiny. Assuming you can find 32 people to begin with. Good luck!
Life is short. Have fun.

From today's sales:

Bastion, did a review of it, bit hack and slashy but a fun game with a unique narration: http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/my-review-of-bastion/
Psychonauts, if your into unusual adventure games with some platforming. I've played three hours so far and find it charming and fun.

2nd hand knowledge:
World of Goo, interesting game from what I heard.
Do not get Hydrophobia. It has great water visual effects....and that's it.
SPAZ. From what Moonshine Fox and others have said, its a fun top-down space combat game. For me, I think I'm bit tired out on those games atm.

I guess today ends the deals. I so far bought two games total, I think something must be wrong with me. ;)

World of Goo has a neat sense of Humor and some really challenging yet fun puzzles. I have it for Wii but It should be fun on PC too.

SPAZ also looks good based on TotalBiscuit's WTF is for it.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

World of Goo is one of a small list of games I have played to completion, and the only proper puzzle game on that list.

SPAZ is, well, frankly, it's the embodiment of one of my oldest game concepts. I understandably enjoyed it, but did not finish the game.

World of Goo is awesome. I just bought SPAZ and look forward to playing it. I'm thinking of getting Galactic Civilizations II.

Bastion is a steal at 75% off. I got it at the last Humble Indie Bundle and wasn't disappointed.

SPAZ at $2.49 is an autobuy.  I already have it, and a spare gift copy, or I'd get it again ;)  That's not to say you'll necessarily want to finish it; it's a long game, but even just playing until you have the second-to-highest or highest size class of ship is worth way more than that price.

SPAZ is a nice shooter. I finished it and also had few partial plays. There is a point in game where rules change and thats the point some people think best part of game is before that - me included :)

I actually finished SPAZ and spent some 30-40 hours doing so. Was great fun! Not sure if I'm going back to it, but those hours were well spent.

Speaking of X (was anyone still speaking of X?) you can get the whole lot on Steam for a tenner at the moment, or individual volumes for much less than that!

Out of all of them, pretty much the only one anyone wants is Terran Conflict.
