So it was like Diablo 3, then?
Except Demigod had a functioning singleplayer mode. It was only the online ladder part that was awful. Custom games and LAN was fine.

Diablo 3 launch was smooth as, comparing to Demigod. Seriously.

I don't agree since everything about D3 broke on launch. Demigod did have LAN and a perfectly fine singleplayer game. But the online part, yeah, that was broken beyond.

Also did anyone see the Max Payne 3 50% sale? They are selling a spanking new game for 50% off? Must have some terrible sale figures...
I wouldn't assume that.  They probably make more money at 50% off than 33% off.  I've seen that kind of thing a lot with our games, though obviously it's a different thing for AAA games.

Yeah I meant usually you don't put a new AAA game just 1 month after release @ 50% sale.. I was wondering what kind of terrible sale figures would warrant a 50% rebate this early in the life of a game on the "shelf" 10% or 25% yes.. but 50% ?

I have no idea what it's sales numbers are, but a lot of the reviews on it are kinda meh. Most of them say it's too much movie and not enough game.

To be honest, Max Payne 3 was rather terrible as a game. Somewhat entertaining movie, but game? Pff, no. I was irked by the 20000 cutscenes that weren't interactive and had a lot of really annoying post-processing effects slapped on them for no apparent reason. Drove me nuts.

Ok, so maybe it really is 50% off because it didn't sell well ;)

That it isn't itself bad.

Of course I'm among the few who liked all the movies in Metal Gear Solid 4 {The interactive movie}

I enjoy some movie-games, but I like to know that it's one before I pay money for it.

You can't even call Max Payne 3 a game, not if you compare it to Max Payne 1 anyway. It has less interactive content than cut-scenes and unlike MGS4 the cutscenes in Max Payne 3 are terrible. Stupid story, laughable unlikeable characters and to boot, stupid cutscenes... Max Payne 3 is a interactive B movie. And it saddens me its got a 89 metacritic. It is one of the worst games of this decade. Yes, its a entertaining movie, but I was under the impression Rockstar makes games.

I liked the cutscenes in MGS4 as well by the way, and to me MGS4 is FAR superior as a game simply because it had a unique artistic quality to it and many pretty unique gameplay elements, and to begin with, you really are playing about as much as watching in MGS4 which is not how it is done in Max Payne 3. 5minutes shooting, 15 minutes loading screens and cutscenes. Thats the ratio in that ;p

Add to that transition cutscenes that take away weapons, or change what weapon you have in hand only to drop you smack in the middle into a room full of 10 heavily armed guys.. with a pistol instead of that fully loaded AK47... welll ;)

So did I funnily enough, but the problem with cutscenes is that they aren't really that interactive, your just watching the game. My impression of Max Payne 3 is lots of cutscenes, very little action. Which compared to MGS4 you are able to control and move your character around for most of the game.

Red Orchestra II is a niche WWII game if you want it brutally realistic. I got the first one free off a facebook coupon no less.

Was on the fence buying it, since i may not have the specs for it.

BUT i then saw with the deluxe pack you get two awesome hats for TF2, and for 7.50 I figure it is a good consolation prize.

Will let you know how it plays tonight. Maybe, just maybe, the newer "newbie modes", and generally newer user base, will make it so I'm not keeping a .2 KDR like the last game. (compared to 1:1 in COD, or 5:1 in Battlefield)

NOTE: I now have a full passe for Madballs in Babo:Invasion and Frozen Synapse, 2 guest passes for Killing Floor, and 3 guest passes for Red Orchestra 2. Add me on Steam @ chemical_art if you want any of them!

MP3 actually went 50% off on Amazon only like 2 weeks after it released. Kind of ridiculous. I don't buy most of the arguments about sales 'devaluing' games, but cutting the price in half after some of the day 1 buyers may not even have finished playing the game? That's a bit much. I've also heard that it's an OK game with too many cut scenes, and by no means a real Max Payne game. The general advice seems to be that Alan Wake is more of a spiritual successor to Max Payne. Not so much in the slow-mo shooting punks, but in the general brooding internal monologue dark sort of gameplay. Which was the best part about Max Payne anyway.
