You have 704 games? O_o

I do???

Oh, I think it's counting DLC.

No, only like 500 really. :D

Feel free to add me as a steam friend, anyone. I might gift bomb you with terrible, terrible low priced games that you'll be embarrassed to have in your library.  ;D

Yeah, the main profile page counts DLC. Your games list turns up 507.

Still, I have 45 and still haven't touched a few.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

I've played almost 70% of them. That's not too bad!

Also the indie bundling fad lately has thrown those numbers off a bit. Sometimes I get a bundle for one or two games in it and end up with a few more that I have little interest in. I might get around to trying them one of these days, but with 500 games.... yeah.

I think the problem with civilization has always been not properly drawing a link between cause and effect and how decisions affected your civilization. The latest entry in the series tries to alleviate this problem with the adviser system, but it's very crude and does not help new players really think ahead. It is a thinking person's game, and there can be a lot of strategy to it, but it takes a long time and a lot of investment to figure out how to impose your will as the player. Most new players I know just like to build and upgrade everything without a clue as to what or why.

I'm not a huge puzzle game fan, but I might take the opportunity to pick up Tidalis. Its 66% off the whole summer sale, so plenty of time to think about it.

That's, what, $1.67? :)  If you're curious, there's a demo.

Psh, that would be like, the informed thing to do. :D

Well, the real reason is that my bandwidth is limited (stupid satellite net), so if I'm going to bother DLing, I might as well get the full thing. Its either DL in town while working on other stuff, or eat up my allotments. Basically, the time to DL the demo is a bigger opportunity cost to me than the $1.67 that the game costs ;)

Unless the demo is the game and buying just unlocks access to the full game without an additional download?

The demo is the game but steam may not realize that and may try to redownload it.  If you can get it to give you the cd key after you buy it then you can just plug that into the demo and that makes it the real game.  But steam will probably keep listing it as "Tidalis Demo".

Well I jumped on Heroes of Might and Magic VI + DLC.. yes, it uses Ubi DRM but damnation is that game addicting. The story is also pretty well done for a game of this kind.. in fact, it might even be the best HOMM of all times.

But besides this I have not seen anything else that inspires me to start purchasing it...

Nabbed Legend of Grimrock, the game intrigues me too much to ignore. Other than that...waiting to see what comes next.

I got it too, had been waiting for a sale.  Looks great, really brought back memories of Eye of The Beholder II, etc... then I got to the first slug and it kept hitting me despite my not taking any actions.  Imagine the Nerve!  Not waiting its turn!  So I killed it by clumsily clicking on my melee attacker's weapons as fast as they came off cooldown, and left the game in a huff (not really the huff).

I can understand why they made the design decision and stuck with it (and with not having a Turn-based option, talk about having to balance two different games), and they're probably reaching a broader audience with it... but said audience probably does not include me ;)  May give it a whirl again sometime.

Also got Warlock: Master of the Arcane while it was on one of those flash sales.  In a lot of ways it's another "We wish we had the rights to Master of Magic" game but it's not as good as the original MoM.  It is still fun, though; it does play a lot like Civ5 with some key differences (city improvements are placed on the map, instead of workers, but require 1 pop each) and of course magic.

Ah yes, Grimrock is based on the old old game Dungeon Master, quite definitely a real time game. No pausing to consider your actions here, no matter how tile-based it is. That said, once you get used to it, it's pretty easy to strafe back and forth around a monster getting hits off while it continually misses you.

Trine 2? That's one I should probably pick up, loved the original Trine.

Was looking at Anno 2070 as a maybe but the DRM killed that for me, we'll see what comes up in the next few days though, I'm almost certain to buy something.....

I've already got all the good ones that have gone on sale so far though.  ::)

The only one on sale on the front page I can recommend is the Tribes Ascend pack, that's a steal for getting started in the game. The rest I haven't played or have no interest in touching.
