I have a Mac Pro running 10.7.4 with both a Radeon 4870 and an Nvidia GT120, with 1 LCD on the Radeon (my primary) and 2 on the GT120.

Unfortunately, AVWW apparently wasn't tested with multiple graphics card setups, as when I launch it it:
  • Opens
  • Loads 3 assets (video is visible for this)
  • Then the game window disappears (not just a blank or black screen, the game window completely disappears).
The music is playing, and the game is running, but there is no image on screen. Attempting to toggle between fullscreen and windowed has no effect. Both from Steam and with a copy of the 1.2 "demo" I downloaded from elsewhere.

The game launches and runs fine if I unplug the two monitors from the GT120, but attempting to relaunch the game after plugging monitors back into the GT120 will result in a single-Dock-bounce crash. I have no tested the behavior with multiple monitors on a single graphics card yet.

Are there any fixes available? Is there any additional information I can provide for troubleshooting?

We use multiple monitors regularly (actually, all of us on staff have two monitors at least) and have not had this issue.

In general it sounds like either some sort of OS issue or the way the OS is interacting with the game.  You might check to make sure your game install isn't corrupted and actually just throwing a bunch of errors (doing this via doing a verification of your local cache in steam if it's a steam copy).

But beyond that, the underlying Unity 3D engine is a black box to us as far as monitor handling goes, so it's not something we have control over.  It's also not a known issue with Unity 3D that I'm aware of -- we're currently running version 3.3 of unity for the game.

On more than one GPU? And on OS X?

Tried several different copies of the game, from more than one source.

This thread suggests it's a Unity bug. Well, that sucks.

I corrected the link there.  Yes, sounds like it is a bug with the Unity engine, and precisely the version we are using.  That's unfortunate.  But on the bright side, they do have a 4.0 version that is coming out this fall.  And starting in early August we will be experimenting with their 3.5 version to see if that's suitably stable to switch to, so that might also resolve the issue.

Sorry about this!  I really hate it when there's nothing we can do because of the engine.  There is very little that is more frustrating for us programmers. :/
