How do I not auto repair broken golems?
« on: June 02, 2013, 02:12:00 pm »
I tried the control option to not auto assist stand-down structures (and I made sure to stand down the broken golem).

Also, there appears to be an option you cannot check for not assisting large projects (is that a bug?)

For the auto repair tab, its a number you type in that is a cutoff. Type in a huge number to disable.

Well why doesn't the stand down thing just work? What's the point in having the stand down option at all then?

Do not assist large projects - you can set that value to say 100, and you engineers won't auto-assist. More specifically, you can set it to the lowest of the golem's metal/crystal cost to cut off assistance to that. I think the build times (and cost per sec) of golems was changed recently, while the total cost stayed the same. But let's say that Golem X costs 240 metal a second to build. If you put 200 in the "do not assist large projects" field, your engineers won't automatically assist that golem.

Standby works for some other things, I hadn't noticed a repair speciific cutoff or to not assist stand-down structures. I can't speak on that yet, maybe later today I will. Still helpful if you don't have engineers on FRD and want to stagger your construction of 300 turrets, you want to prevent a cloaked unit from firing its weapons, or you want your Riot Starships/Black Widow Golem to let go of tractored units so they can cower in a corner for repairs.

There is an option to not to auto-repair stood downed units. It may still mistakenly labeled as low power mode. If so, that is another for the compilation of text problems. ;)

The stand down options does work, but the engineers typically need to be manually reasigned after putting the golem in stand down mode. It may be that there is nothing else for the engineers to work on, so they just stick with it. :P

Hopefully that helps!

Yes. Options that stop auto-orders do not interrupt the already acquired orders to relevant units. This means, so long as nothing else higher priotity comes along, they will keep doing it. Of they do get interrupted or preempted, then they won't go back to those now no longer auto-acquirable orders again.

That would actually be a good mantis suggestion; when turning on an option that changes auto-acquirable orders, then any relevant units to that option, if they currently are on an auto-acquired order, then they will be interrupted (be given the stop command) so they will reevaluate what is valid for them to auto-target.

Nope, it's labelled as stand down.
