Ah, okay -- great!  I have not announced this yet because of the people who had already preordered, but we decided to lower the price from $12.95 USD to $9.99 USD for the expansion.  All of the people who had previously bought the game are receiving a credit back for the difference (rather than just having to pay a higher price), but since I had not yet gotten confirmation from BMT that they could do this, I had not yet announced either thing.  Glad that worked!

Well, that explains that email :) Thanks!

I think the expansion is well worth $12.95, but perhaps the lower price will put it even further into some individuals "whim buy" category. Plus, it makes logical sense to me to have the expansion half the price of the original game.

FYI

€2,42 = $3.56, so I just made an additional 60 cents.

You may want to check who is paying for this additional 6% discount.

It was supposed to only be €1,99, so I think that was VAT as the extra.  If not, then it's just your lucky day! ;)

No problem!

That was our thinking, as well -- and in talking with our partners, they were the ones who suggested that we might derive more overall sales at the lower price point, since there's something of a mental jump for people crossing the $9.99 barrier (same as the $19.99 barrier for the full game).  Originally I was viewing this as being more equivalent to a $30 expansion to a $50 RTS, and had price appropriately, but in the end I think this will be better.  I just hadn't wanted to announce that until the super-early-adopters of the expansion had gotten their refunds. No sense charging the biggest supporters a premium in exchange for their early support! ;)

Why are you the only developer that would do this? You're too good. That's it, you've won me. I'm purchasing it on Steam right now.

It's just good business, in my opinion.  I'm used to a b2b environment where I get to know all my customers, and so I have certain habits from there, I suppose.  Many thanks for your support!

Have you looked into Google Checkout?  I'm not sure how well it works with foreign currency, or what their cut is, but it seems like a decent alternative.  I just bought Torchlight the other day and they offered both Google and Paypal.  I was sent the serial by email.  The whole process worked very smoothly.
