So what is the current record for most units in one system?
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:18:02 pm »
Because I've got a QUARTER MILLION in a single System!

My game is still running at a smooth 1 fps and I can give them an order without a meltdown.

That's a nice fleet. Shame is something nuked onto it by accident...
Life is short. Have fun.

Not just DF can you get death by FPS, I guess.

I'm pretty sure the record for most ships legitimately obtained in one system is held by Cinth.

Yea, I saw the post and immediately thought "Paging Cinth.  Cinth, please pick up the white courtesy phone."

But that is an impressive blob, in any event :)  Glad to hear the game at least semi-gracefully handles it.

What is that record? This obviously isn't legit, I just wanted to see how many the game and my computer can handle. I think i can do 70K without cheats, just with a lot of starting worlds... and time.

"After the Teleport Raider outer-atmosphere there's only a brief Fighter troposphere before you hit the Miniram crust.  But after that it's just turtles, all the way down."

I don't know the record off the top of my head; I know Cinth is our current resident computer-melter and he's gotten massive numbers in one-planet human stuff, one-planet AI stuff, and galaxy-wide threat (Dark Spire).  I could hunt up his posts but I'll leave that satisfaction to him :)

I'd ask how, but nah. I know even on high caps, high cap fleet ships cap out at 1500. 3 marks worth is 4500. 6000 with an AF and 7500 with a core fab. Sigh. I'm going to have to sandbox a game and flatten your quarter million :)
Impressed, I am.

Eh?

Umm... I did mine with ultra low caps

As far as galaxy wide threat? Over a quarter million. Game would "heap section" crash even when paused at 270,000 threat.

Post with a SS of the best fleet ball I've shared on the forums.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Who was it that set off the Mk3 nuke?  Didn't that cause like half-a-million unit waves?

I don't know what the highest wave size on record is, but I do know that in a 6/6 AI 45-minute Defender Mode game on a 120-planet map where I chose to start with 118 worlds, the first wave was about 50,000 strong. (I think it was a 45-minute game, anyways, but I'm not positive). That convinced me that I should perhaps actually pay attention to the suggestion in the tooltip for the mode and not start in control of ~100% of the galaxy.

That's a fair amount of ships you have there.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

30 AIP, eh?

Isn't the AI hard-capped at 125k ships galaxy-wide?

Note to self:  buy new computer parts tomorrow so that I can join the Big Ship Count Club.  I have an excellent idea for how to get an abhorrently massive wave size, but I'll have to figure out a good way to survive for long enough to do it.  And a computer that won't melt if I think about trying. 8)
My other bonus ship is a TARDIS.

Just ended up with a 1.2mill ship wave incoming.. :/  My gut feeling is the game's gonna die in 3 minutes.
