Did we get around to 'force engineers to stay under forcefields while enemies are present' yet? I feel like that is really important.
The simple solution to that is to not put those engineers in FRD.

It could suppress their FRD behavior while enemies are present, but remember how often people get annoyed by the "harvesters don't rebuild while enemies are present" logic?  Do you really want that to get more widespread?
i.. actually never have that problem.

You've never had the honor of four or five hundred AI raptors endlessly playing solitaire under cloak somewhere on one of your planets?

I actually buy cloaked tachyon things really quickly and make extra sure to eradicate cloaked stuff.
I mean I certainly see them somewhat often, but its a fringe case at best that they end up being very annoying. Either that, or it rarely ends up actually being 4-500. It usually ends up being closer to 2k.

and I dunno. I feel like if there are hundreds of raptors sitting somewhere, engineers should be too scared to leave forcefields anyway. I'm pretty sure thats actually the mechanic working as intended.

I just cant stand not having engineers on frd, tbh. it makes them so much more useful. Particularly back in 1.x. I miss my mk2 teleporting engineers. Can we have those back pretty please?

Except that I have Engineers on FRD, which means I can't take them out of FRD without changing the CTRL setting.  The new Control Groups setting would allow me to make a Control Group of "Don't FRD" that I could manual put my Engineers into and out of to simulate that, but it's pretty annoying.  I'd rather "Engineer FRD" be one of 3 settings: Manual / When Built / Always.

  • Repairing [...] forcefield modules) should be lower priority than units without.
Objection! I want my forcefields repaired every moment they could be.

I said modules, as in the ones on ships. They can come back quickly. The regular forcefields don't regen.
