Raid starship has maneuvering thrusters?
« on: October 29, 2009, 06:04:23 am »
If you give the raid starship a move order within its purple circle (the one that denotes ship size) it wont turn towards the destination and "fire maneuvering thrusters" instead. Is this intended?

This is intended for any ship, they all do it.  This is primarily because the granularity of angle calculations is too low below a certain distance threshold, and so you wind up with a really incorrect rotation about half the time.  That was very noticeable, partly also because it caused a huge amount of jitter to the ship, but you're only the second person to comment on the "maneuvering thrusters," so I think it's safe to say it's comparably less of an issue (and somewhat thematically sound, anyway).

I've noticed it with science labs a while back, but it wasn't that distracting.

For those, they actually are one that never turns, but just slowly rotates.  For them, they are one that only uses those sort of thrusters, versus flying like a fighter or something.  So that was intended, just a design decision with them.
