My fear is that their solution is "we need more of zeh server racks"  :D

I guess it's their money, if that's what they're doing.  :)

My basic question is:

D = distance to OnLive server
c = distance light travels in one second

D / c / 1000 = ?

I would say that this is another approach to the "perfect" DRM solution....

Yes, I think it could certainly be misused that way.  As in, that's DRM that would actually work as far as preventing piracy.  But for it to happen, you'd have to have exclusivity with OnLive or similar services.

Obviously you can guess I'm not a fan of that sort of idea, but I think that the OnLive concept also has a lot of value-add for a certain customer base.  Those folks that don't want the complexity of the PC setup and such, and/or who don't want to sink a bunch of cash into top-line PC hardware.  Personally I'm not in that segment, but it's an exciting prospect to be able to reach the folks on older hardware with newer games.

Ah lovely.  Just what I always wanted was a service where I could buy games, and then pay a monthly fee to have access to the games I just bought.  Wait.....

Ah well, I guess I'm really not the target market :).

I suppose it's more for me (slightly budget-bound and wants shiny games more than shiny hardware). I use Netflix and this would be a bit like it's live streaming option :)

It is?  I always figured that with netflix, you pay a fee then you have x videos avail at a time.  When reading the faq, it really seemed like you had to purchase every game separately(at full price? not clear on that), and still pay the monthly fee.

I think you can buy games if you always want them available, but i also suspect it works a little like GameFly (where you can rent games for a period of time or even as long as you want).

Ah, that sounds a bit less retarded as a business model(and I could see some people actually having use for it).  Wonder why their faq doesn't make that a bit clearer :).

Because its not decided yet - last time i checked they talked SUB + Rental fee (so 2 fees, or more the more games you "rent") you can not ever buy anything there though. Unless that too changes till its public
