Prerelease 1.006F now available.
« on: June 14, 2009, 04:43:55 pm »
WARNING:  Same as 1.006E, this prerelease includes some rather significant changes to the AI Progress, which have not yet been fully tested.  We'd very much appreciate any feedback you can give us, but this change is considered relatively volatile compared to most of our prereleases.  There's a chance the AI will do something really off, such as building 10x too many ships or sending waves that are 10x too large, or that your AI Progress will get messed up in your savegame.  We've specifically tested for this already and are reasonably confident this won't happen (and even more testing has happened since 1.006E came out, and there were no issues found yet), but with something of this magnitude in a prerelease, it bears noting.  The best course, if you use this prerelease, is to back up your savegames before you start with the new version, just in case!  Also note that savegames made in this version will not be backwards-compatible with prior versions of the game.

Here's the latest prerelease:  http://www.arcengames.com/share/AIWar1006F.zip

That version is an upgrade from version 1.005, so you have to already have 1.005 installed. Just unzip it into your game folder (usually C:\Program Files\Arcen Games\AI War\ unless you specified something else). Please make sure that your unzip process keeps the folder structure from the zip file, rather than just unpacking all of the files into the base target directory.

What's new since 1.006E:
(Cumulative release notes since 1.005 are attached at the bottom)

-------------------

-There was previously a bug with loading saved games after a certain point in the third basic tutorial.  Fixed.

-The way that ships, especially teleporting ships, collide with the sides of the planetary areas is now much better.

-Mine Layers were not covering their entire planet in Free Roaming Defender mode.  Fixed.

-The way that play/pause and looping buttons work is now a bit better -- it queues all clicks, no longer how quickly they are input, rather than having clicks that are input before the button can change state be discarded.

-The "Find Multiplayer LAN Games" button is now called "Join Multiplayer Game."  It now includes links to the AI War Meeting Grounds forum, and the AI War IRC channel, in addition to the existing LAN game detection and direct IP connect ability.

-The occasional "ships forgetting their orders while in attack-move mode and given a wormhole command" bug is hopefully now fixed.

Changes:
