Knowledge cost question
« on: December 20, 2010, 02:19:03 pm »
I'm sorry to pick such a small nit but this has been bugging me for ages and I thought I'd ask since i finally registered.

Why are Mk II Basic Turrets and Advanced Warp Sensors the only techs not priced at some multiple of 500?  Is there any situation in which you would ever take one and not the other when each creates an amount of "change" that can only be spent on the other?

I've just always felt like I'm being forced to take the AWS if I tech up basic turrets.

In that regard I felt a weee bit dissapointed I couldnt upgrade straight to mk2.
In most cases you probably want the wave detection thingy anyway, but when you have those sniper-frigates(with the sensor build in), you dont really need them. Mk2 turrets are, imo, a must either way.

In the end I just see it as the only 2 options available to really waste R-points on, by not getting them both :D

It's one of those things where we intend to make more techs that way, but haven't gotten to it just yet.

No worries, I was just curious.  It's my OCD showing; I must spend half the game paused, trying to decide how to spend my next six thousand knowledge.  :D

Oh sure, it bugs a number of people -- us too, truthfully.  Just wanted to be clear it wasn't intended to be a permanent thing!
