* Maybe it's a habit i picked up from SupCom, but since this game has the same great camera system i primarily navigate the map via Zoomoutzoomin, Zoomoutzoomin,

I do the same thing. In fact, in games that have similar zoom functions (Like Sins, for example) I completely disable edge of screen panning. Zooming is just as effective, and then you don't accidentally pan the screen when you're trying to quickly hit buttons at the edge of said screen.

* I use V-rightclick a lot, as i suspect most AI war players do.

AutoHotKey bound to one of the buttons on the side of my mouse.

IMO I'm probably more adept at using the keyboard than I am with a mouse with many independent keys.

FPS = mouse1/2, 1234 + q, wasd + binds.  Not that much trouble for me in doing so (perhaps it just is habitual that I don't even think about the inconvenience).
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.
