I decided to take the what memo? challenge and the second planet out (on a concentric map) has FOUR counter attack guard posts all clustered around the command station (which happens to be a jerk full of gravity slow down).

As a second jerk move, there's a Anti Starship Arachnid guard post ALSO hanging out there.

Wasn't able to get a screenshot, for some reason the steam hotkey isn't working.  I did recall this problem from a game last week and there I did get a screenshot.



Counter attack guard posts shouldn't be doing this, right?

(Also, four in the system both times?  That seems...more than coincidental)

A certain variety of AI subcommander (the guys with the "special" command stations) likes to cluster all his posts together. It can lead to ugly situations like this.

That particular sub-commander's name is 'The Rude Gesture'.  When you come across one of those it can make things rather...difficult, sometimes.

Yea, I think it's limited to 4.  That limit was added after there reports of something like 13 of them in such a system.  So now it puts those other picks towards things like arachnid posts :)

The AI had problems before telling the difference between 'Rude Gesture' and 'Avoid this place, all who scouteth it.'

OK.  That's cool then.

I just thought it was weird that BOTH times I ran across CA guard posts they were clustered.

Pretty much bad luck. The RNG hates you. The RNG hates us all.  :D
