Defending against dysons would cost more than you would get from salvaging them. Also they would probably eventually overwhelm you even at 4/10.

Not really.  If you wait for a lot of friendly dynson gatlings to spawn first, those things will wtfruin their hostile counterparts.

Yep. One cheesy trick is to free the dyson as fast as possible and let them build up.. and eventually let them stop exos for you. I did this long time ago with 4/10 dyson. Don't remember what difficulty that was.

These days the population of each type of Dyson Gatling is capped, based on AIP and faction intensity.  But I remember when you could accumulate hundreds of them.
