With some of my very early implementations of the flak turrets, that might have actually been enough.

Perhaps toss in a few of the super-alpha heavy beam cannons, which could destroy basically arbitrary quantities of ships if they lined up orderly.

I would also like to know how cap sizes work with a schizophrenic AI

And considering of the waves we have had to defend against lately, many of us might be able to handle two lvl 10 with double waves  ;)

Bear in mind that excess gets shunted into carriers: I've actually had a wave of 52,000 units and my CPU didn't slow down at all because only a few thousand were actually active at any given time.  That said, all the carriers blasted my command station to smithereens before I could even kill more than maybe 4k of the enemy with my six armored golems (I had cheated in order to test the massive wave sizes).

Oh, and regarding the schizophrenic AI: it's the same.  The stuff that is per-ship-type is just applied to however many ships of that type are to be added, that's all.
