funny AI moments
« on: March 18, 2011, 07:58:21 pm »
Since we all know how devastating the AI can be, I figured I'd made a topic where we, instead of praising the AI, can laugh about the few moments the AI makes mistakes or does something odd :D
for example, a while ago I started a new game with 2 random AI's, both dif 7. One home planet and my first step was scouting both of the adjacent planets. First world I scouted belonged to the AI type that uses mostly self attritioning neinzul units in it's waves (forgot the name). The second planet belonged to speedracer. and guess what he had on his planet? that's right, a gravity drill. I laughed my ass off. I managed to capture the planet without having to destroy the gravity drill, enabling me to use it to win the game a lot easier than normal. Sniper turrets (and later spider turrets) everywhere and not a single wave would manage to get even close to the drill or my command station. neinzul waves would just die from attrioning long before they'd even get halfway.
Used that planet to defend my homeworld, took my fleet the other direction.
beating them was still tough, but thanks to that single gravity drill my game got a whole lot easier.

Gravity drills are amazing, did something similar to let me get up to 400-ish progress on a 9/9 (speed racer was one, don't remember the other) game with Golems - Hard enabled.
