If you are playing multiplayer, the other players can also select any of the other players layouts and that way you can all have one uniform, untangled view.

That is actually rather cool. There's almost a minigame here: Arrange all the planets and leave no tangles or overlaps in the wormhole lines.

Just make sure that you paused the game first. The AI will be sneaky otherwise.
