"Vengeance Of The Machine" Steam Purchase : off-line installation wanted.

Hello,

I purchased and installed AI War and all of the expansions on Steam over the past few years.   I am planning to wipe my hard drive and re-install a fresh copy of Windows 7.  I don't want to install Steam on the new load.

AI War and the first 4 expansions will have not problem re-installing in the absence as Steam.  I'll use the Demo download and the CD Keys from My Steam account. But, Steam does not show a CD key for "Vengeance"....

From looking at some other threads on this Forum, I gather that the game can be run directly without Steam  by running the program in the SteamApps folder:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\AI War Fleet Command\AIWar.exe

What's the best way to install "Vengeance Of The Machine" that was purchased on Steam to a computer that does not have Steam?  Do I need to purchase it again directly from Arcen?

For VotM what you can do is copy the RuntimeData/Expansions/5/ folder from your steam AIW install, to a thumbdrive or something, then copy it from your thumbdrive to your AIW install after the wipe.

Or, to cut to the chase, you could just copy the entire "AI War Fleet Command" folder from steam to the thumbdrive.  If you want to remove its steam capabilities just delete the steam_api.dll (or whatever it is) from that folder. 

It will even run from the thumbdrive, on windows or mac, and as usual it stores its save files inside that folder.  Though naturally you'll get better performance running it off a normal drive.

Let me know if that doesn't address your use case
