If they fought each other one on one. They could continue to double in size about every 30 secounds depending on what tier you had. However that is not going tobe the case. If one side is only targeting a few of them. and the other side is attacking everyone. the side that is ganging up on a single target at a time is going to win.

well thats what I'm wondering - If in a 1 on 1 engagement, will they, in theory, kill each other, spawning a single shredder again on each side?

Most likely they would actually just kill each other and be dead.  Each shredder has to do a certain amount of damage in order to spawn another, and I am guessing (but have not checked) that this damage amount is more than would be dealt to a single enemy shredder.

Their numbers would ebb back and forth in a dynamic equilibrium, unless the encounter is unstable and one side can gain an advantage by the random initial conditions of the fight.

So, yeah, I think this is what would happen except that they numbers would gradually diminish on both sides until nothing was left.  Most likely.

is there any way to spawn 2xx or 3xx shredders on a planet, then spawn another 2xx-3xx on your team and just let it run its course? I would watch that sorta thing on the youtubes

Not at present, unfortunately.

The matchup between parasites and shredders is more interesting since parasites don't destroy anything anyway, means that the captive shredders can be refarmed as well as the parasites themselves - generates a lot of free shredders that's for sure :)  Equally, the parasites can very quickly turn the tide but they still need superior numbers in order to "outdo" the shredders, even with their caps.

All interesting stuff anyway, and it was one hell of a battle :P

The Tier 1's need todo half as much dmg as there HP. But that quickly deminishes as it goes up. So for every one there is, a little over two can be created. And it would take one like 44 secounds to kill anouther one. However 22 secounds after it engages anouther would spawn and begin fighting, so like 33 secounds for one to die. So what would that be somthing like an exponintial increase of one third every 44 secounds?

However as you go up in tiers, the dmg needed to multiply vrs the HP they have gets closer. Never exceding a 1 to 1 ratio. But one thing to remember the damage they deal out also increases. And just doing the math with a glance and not on paper, Becouse of the high DPS, they are still going to replicate fast.

Three words: Zenith Beam Frigate, the 50 MK I Z-Beam Frigates were able to overun a heavily defended Special Forces Gaurd Post(it had a butt load of turrets, forcefield, the works) without any casaulties. Not only that, they are far more superior that the Missile Frigates despite the fact it only does 1/2 the damage. They are tough, fast(for a long ranged unit), quick to reload, and somewhat powerful. They are, expensive however.....

Teleport Stations.  These are very valuable ships considering the speed that they travel and their relative ease of build (excluding the early game)

Teleport stations allow you, for one, the possibility to defend multiple planets with a single fleet (easily)

Also, I use teleport stations, often, for destroying guard posts as fast as possible.

Have many people played around with Mirrors much?  Just unlocked them in a game and I'm impressed by how useful they can be in a well balanced fleet!
