I suggest a claymore, aim for the throat.

Ugh after looking at the game for while i'm ready to take the claymore on my own throat.

One question, i've never had to deal with later stages of the super hybrid thing, do i have time/should i be worried?

I'd say yes to both, though I'm not entirely sure how far the hybrid plot has advanced at this stage. Certainly wouldn't hurt to get rid of the super hybrid whenever an opportunity to do so presents itself.

The antagonizer's been active for a bit less than an hour at the point I handed it off.   It's probably going to switch to the second stage soon, which means more gatlings per spawn (even with the bug, iirc, it does one full spawn when it does spawn).  And if it reaches the third stage, game over.

So killing the antagonizer would be good :)  It's on that planet mentioned in the alert text.  But it's gonna be somewhat tricky.

heah. Well, the next player is in for treat.

We were knee deep in  when i took the reins and now we are about to drown :)

Dyson gatlings started to attack in swarms of 8 about 10minutes after i started playing. I have no idea how much resources were spent repairing the turrets there but must've been a lot.

Strange hybrid like signal just went online minutes before i left, not sure what that does but it cant be good!

Probably should've taken the botnet but with those dyson spawns...

Destroyed a civilian leader in corner.
Took a planet . Energy / Knowledge situation kinda demanded it.
Built decent fleet, MK II fighters & bombers unlocked, captured near caps of acid sprayers, mrls and space planes. Around 930 total, probably still no enough to go after anything, not fast enough anyway.
Blew up a munitions booster , 20AIP but euh... 8x double damage gatlings

In my unprofessional opinion whoever takes this up is as good as dead :)

Yeah, this is probably past the point of no return. Dyson will probably blow up in less than an hour.
Going to try and play this game myself starting with the moment I finished. I was so sure we could pull this through at that point!  :) Oh well, too bad.  :)

I think that the next succession game should be a bit ... easier.  Perhaps, next time, we could start at difficulty 7 and work our way up?

I come from the "if it isn't hard, it isn't fun" school of gaming, so I chose this scenario with full knowledge that it was difficult, and we might not win. It is a "Challenge", after all. I'm okay with losing because it makes winning taste that much better.

I don't want us to give up yet just because it feels hard. There are a lot of ways to pull out a victory, and everything's not always straightforward.

If we lose, there's nothing wrong with doing another one that's easier if that's what people want (we can do a poll or do multiple). I would prefer not doing a scenario where victory is all but assured, but hey, next one is up to you all.

Congratulations rabican and Orelius for being brave enough to take on this challenge.

I don't mind the difficulty, personally, but I would suggest not-advanced-hybrids until at least one AI HW kill or something like that is scored: not a victory, necessarily, but a sign that it's a tenable scenario for this style of play with this group of people.

Same here.

I might've been overly pessimitic about next player's chances there. Not sure how the hybrid plot works exactly, but if killing the antagonizer is enough to stop total getting our asses kicked, that might be doable for someone who is good at the space combat part. Just need to blow through about 300 strong MKIII planet and 300strong MKIV planet.  If that antagnoizer drops the chances are actually pretty good, as the only thing holding me really back were the dyson spawns and need to hurry, a lot. And 2 ARS's in border planets just waiting to turn the situation around after the thing settle down...

also same. I'm the kind of guy who plays and beats every game I like at all difficulties. Being able to costumize my game with so many different options and kind of create my own difficulty, is one of the reasons why I enjoy AI war so much. I can make it as easy or as hard as I want.

I really want to try pulling it off, but I played already, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see  :)
The attack would need something spicy, Martyrs or EMPs. Thinking this would be a mighty fine time for EMPs  :)
The tricky part is probably not getting killed by all the business in the backyard while the fleet is away.

If no one replies today, I don't mind seeing repeat commanders.

Looking for a commander to take on the antagonizer!
