Community DLC Suggestion Poll: Week of 3/7/10

Community DLC voting for the week is now underway!

The nominations that receive high amounts of votes will receive higher consideration to be DLC in the near future. If a particular piece of content is likely to be out-of-scope for the near future, it will be kept on a list of content we would like to see in the next expansion (Q4 '10). Please note that we may not know whether or not a suggestion will need to be shelved until after the voting.  Also bear in mind that this is Chris/x4000's game and inclusion of any content is ultimately his decision!

The voting will last one week. The next nomination topic will begin on the 14th.

Since the theme this week is small and easy implementations, I went with Clickable alerts and Single planet engineer/rebuilder nodes. I'm no programmer, but those should be fairly easy to put in, I would think.

There are a number of those id love to see happen, but I voted for control node: Engineer on planet, and fleet starship rebalance.

I wish I could vote for almost all of them though >.>

Hide Unexplored Galaxy Structure, because it sounds like an awesomely fun way to play the game (especially if the galaxy is hidden even in the lobby; I love the idea of "flying blind"), and fortress rebalance because I never use fortresses and want to.  :)

I would vote for clickable alerts, but it seems like such an obvious thing that it will probably get implemented anyway.

The Hide Unexplored Map and Unwrapped Maps combo would compliment each other very nicely indeed.

Clickable Alerts seems like a waste of a vote because it will most likely be implemented anyway.

Clickable alerts does sound worth implementing (one of those "you mean it doesn't already do that?" things), but the timing of when it is implemented may depend on how it does in this poll.  I may or may not wait on the final results, often if something is doing pretty well I just go ahead and do it.  Which of course messes y'all up if you already voted for it, but that's part of the fun  ;D

Cappable Train Stations, to actually make trains interesting again..

And Single-planet Engineer and Rebuilder-builder Nodes, to remove yet more micro from the game.

I'm going for Hide Unxplored Galaxy Structure (exploring is always fun, and combined with RTS it's double the fun. ;) ) and Clickable Alerts (would save from some galaxy view browsing every time waves come in).

Tough choice though, FRD MRS, Fortress rebalance and Unwrapped Maps being close runner-ups.  :)

Keith, I've plenty of faith in both you and Chris to not turn Trains into randomly-pathing engines of insta-gib. They'd only need nerfing straight after they were released, anyway. Besides, I personally don't mind things that make the game more random, interesting, challenging, or all three at once. That, and having cappable Stations would definitely be a good reward/pain scenario. Like the thread says (Paraphrasing, not quoting here), "You'd gain some income, whilst at the same time be encouraging Trains to enter your territory. It's not win/win, it's balanced.".

Now, if those same Stations gave an income (Of whatever M/C per sec, or a variable lump-sum, depending on which train-type docked) AND gave a wave-multiplier too, that might be a tad much. Still, testing would find the proper balance, imo.
