Really, the annoyance of swallowers is so high when in AI hands but they're so fun when in player hands I wouldn't mind at all if the AI didn't get protectors and swallowers while players did. That would also include Everything AI and Exo waves.

And then precious programmer time could be spent on stuff everyone enjoys!

edit: also, an option to have ships auto shoot ion cannons and mass drivers, it's time

VoilĂ !
Ok, the problem was that you didn't have enough energy to actually complete the blade's metamorphosis to a non-broken unit.  The blade's tooltip does tell you that you need 500k extra energy for this, but I've put a note in the previous journal to tell you that too.

I'm guessing your situation with the Nomad Beacon is similar, it also needs 500k energy to run.
Thanks a lot!

I was expecting the beacon and blade to put me in deep "energy brownout" AND actually achieving their metamorphosis.

Don't you think it would be better? A cautionless player would end up with a useless ('cause unpowered) Exogalactic Guard Post worth 100(...)000K metal and a dangerous amount of fun to deal with.

Maybe better than a newb' ending up wondering "I repaired this huge piece of metal but nothing happened. Is this a bug?"
Please excuse my english: I'm not a native speaker. Don't hesitate to correct me.

If I remember correctly, Broken Golems (especially Medium) works this way.  Maybe add an alert to the oh-so-full alert box "Broken xxx on planet YYY needs zzz energy to activate."

Boy, there's really no good way to do this, is there?
That's the main reason the maws-eating-your-caps thing hasn't been addressed in the past.  It was kind of the least of the available evils.  But with the powerslaver not attritioning the contents (which I might change later, but it wouldn't be a fast attrition either way), it's more of an issue.

How about if swallowed ships that are rescued come out as friendly zombie ships?

edit: only the ones who do not fit in the ship cap

That seems better from a player pov.

I did an exile hack next to one I already had and I received some strange journal entry saying it's many jumps away and capturing the planet might help - it didn't.
What am I missing ?

It's like playing minesweeper.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Sounds like a costly one. Are we supposed to randomly hack away all around galaxy? 10 HaP with 1.5x multiplier will get prohibitive quickly. I'll try 2-3 more tomorrow and see where it goes.

Minesweeper as in the Windows game...  Am I telling my age here?

***SPOILER*** (kind of)

Basically the number given tell you how many hops away the artifact is.  Hacking gives you more numbers to play with.  Should not take you more than 3 or 4 hacks to figure it out on most maps.  You want to cap the planet the artifact is on.

Ok my bad wasn't clear.. I didn't get another number. Only vague journal entry and nothing. No new addition on exile map filter even after capturing the planet in question.

The description of the exile hacker basically says if you're too far away, you won't get much use out of it. Seems like between what I had and what orzelek had, its better to start somewhere within range of the first exile marker on the map.

I have one planet with 5 jumps. So out of curiosity hacked one next to it to see which direction I should try - no new number :|

The art would be 5 hops from that planet with 5 on it.  Doing a telemetry hack within 5 should give you a new number.
