An inquiry on future development
« on: April 11, 2015, 05:33:58 pm »
This is a question that has been nagging me for some time and either through blindness or stupidity I haven't found this question asked in other topics.

Has any information been released that Arcen Games intends to continue production of expansions for this amazing game? Like I said earlier I have searched around and haven't managed to find an answer.

Yep.

Relax, this is apparently common when a new game is due. Development on AI War will probably end when Arcen does. Though it might have to share a release schedule with TLF, Chris has said he wants to do more with it.

Arcen is now busy like hell with its new 4X title Stars Beyond Reach. They plan on making a sort of shmup ("sort of" because Arcen always twist genres in awesome ways) in the second half of the year: Airship Eternal. Then we can hope they calm down (;D) and be back to making expansions for TLF and AI War, before going for their next new amazing title.
Please excuse my english: I'm not a native speaker. Don't hesitate to correct me.

It's quite striking how AIW-related forum activity waxes and wanes periodically in line with developer focus.  I came along some time after the Light of the Spire and this forum was really quiet.  But towards the release of every subsequent expansion the forums became so busy I often couldn't keep up with all the threads.

I doubt Arcen will ever really abandon AI War because AI War is the anchor that holds everything else down. An expansion to AI war means a bunch more income, so even if I didn't think that they love AI War (which I do), I don't see it going down any time soon.

Well with how awesome the game is turning out to be I personally would love it if they made more expansions. If only I could convince my friends to play it :(
