AI War Beta 7.032-7.033 "Peaceful Interlude" Released!

This one takes a break from fixing The Bug (10/10 being winnable) so the changes already made in that direction can be evaluated.  Instead the focus is on dealing with a couple other long-discussed requests:

- The main combat turrets have been switched from a galaxy-wide-cap on MkI/II/III and a per-planet cap on MkV to a per-planet-cap on MkI/II/III and a galaxy-wide-cap on MkV (and the newly-added MkIVs).
-- The MkI/II/IIIs now have a smaller cap, as a result, but the Spider and Sniper turrets have been given their own I-V lines, so between that and the MkIVs your chokepoint-defense potential hasn't been significantly nerfed (indeed, buffed slightly, from roughly 23k strength to roughly 24k strength)
-- And distributed-defense is now immediately possible from the beginning of the game, so long as you have the necessary metal and energy production.

- The health and attack stats (and armor and armor piercing) have been scaled down two orders of magnitude (divided by 100) to help with readablity and to pave the way towards later changes that will deal with some longstanding balance issues (mainly, that some superweapons are underwhelming because the normal units have gotten so powerful).

There's also some important bugfixes/etc.  Including one hilarious one where capturing an AI HW would give you command of any future champ-nemesis exo spawned from there...

Update: 7.033 is out to scale some stats that I forgot wouldn't be automatically scaled with health and attack, etc (thus ending the Night When The Mines And Attritioners Rose In Terrible Wrath).  Also fixed some bugs related to sniper/spider turret unlocks.

This is a standard update that you can download through the  in-game updater itself, if you already have 4.000 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 4.000 or later, you can download that here.

After the spider turret change even if you have all marks the MK IV spider turret cannot be unlocked at the spire galactic capital anymore also MK i to MKIII do not unlock as even if they were unlocked on an older version only MK IV does, this also affects the spire corvette as well.

Edit: everything else for turret unlocks seems to be ok just the spider turrets unlocks for the rail cannons on the modular ships.

I was thinking of the "Interludes" you'd sometimes see in the theaters during long movies, often with "soothing" music, etc ;)

Seemed fitting given the recent "Increase The Pain!!" patches.


@Fleet Unity: to be clear, do you mean the railcannon modules?  The change I put in was to make them require the MkII+ sniper turret unlocks but potentially that didn't work out.

Yes Keith sorry that is what they are called  they do not unlock only MKIV if you unlocked them on the old version this effects the Spire Corvette modules as well.

Edit: also this seems to be the only turret unlock problem all others still seem to unlock what they should also it still says you need to unlock the standalone spider turret to research this in its description as well.

For 7.033:

* Fixed a bug where researching the MkIV railcannon at a spire galactic capitol still had the Spider Turret as its prerequisite instead of the MkIII Sniper Turret (and even with the Spider Turret unlocked it didn't seem to work).


Dunno why it isn't unlocking with the Spider Turret now, hmm.  Anyway, will be fixed next time.  The MkII and MkIII railcannons became available just fine in my tests, when I researched the Sniper II and IIIs.

The Turrets yes but not the modules I retired this and they do unlock on the fallen spire ships but not the spire corvette.

Edit: but only if you unlock the normal sniper turrets
Edit 2: also even with all sniper and spider turrets unlocked the spire corvette still does not get its rail cannons unlocked and the fallen spire only one, two, and three but you still cannot buy it in the SGC.

I know I posted this before sorry, but I did not explain it very well. Anyway the Spire Corvette doesn't get any rail cannon unlocks even if you unlock all sniper and spider turrets only the Fallen Spire Ships do.

The only way the Spire Corvette will have its rail cannons unlocked is if you unlocked it on an older version if you did it will have them all unlocked.

Since Spider mk. I is now unlocked from start and the old Spider unlock only seems to cause problems with prerequisites, is it possible to have the game translate the old Spider Turret unlock to a new Spider mk. II unlock when reading a savefile?

Oh, oops.  The bug there is that the MkI spider is initially unlocked, it's not supposed to be :)

Uh... my latest game is beginning stages, of an FS campaign, and I have Spire Corvetts as a bonus ship. Can I get an eta on that bug fix? Because missing railcannon mods is going to be painful, very painful.

Also, mentioned it in my AAR, but what exactly does the "Absorbs EMPs" ability on the OMD mean? And could that maybe go into the description of the unit, since it's not even on the wiki?
