omg, been away for a few months or so (new girlfriend :p) and look at all the new content :O awesome job guys. I'll be spending the next few hours reading all the patch notes I've missed and then it's time to fire up a new game :D
can't wait for ancient shadows to get it's official release so I can actually buy it.

well trust me, i know my girl really is a girl ;) lol
and the good thing is, she's just as geeky as I am :D and she enjoys space/strategy games. So I'll make sure we have another member ready to be slaughtered by the AI soon ^^

Question, is there any relation to the amount of cap a ship has and the number of them the AI can use? For ships with caps such as 5?

its not hard capped, they just cost more for the ai to field.
Ideas? Suggestions? Concerns? Bugs to be squashed? Report them on the Mantis Bugtracker!

Update: 5.079 hotfix is out to fix two nasty bugs, including one that could actually corrupt a savegame.  Sorry about that!  It was those nasty Dark Spire again *shakes fist*.  I knew I was adding something mean to the game with those, but there's been this and the (unintentionally severe) zombie apocalypse a few versions ago, so it would seem I had no idea.

But that just means the Devourer Golem was really hungry and escaped to start munching on the save games, it has nothing to do with the Dark Spire at all.  :o

However, if that is everything that made it into the patch it looks like things are relatively stable.

My next game is going to be a diff 9 with the intention of testing out the new stuff at a level that is supposed to be hard, but doable as opposed to my usual 10/10 which does not really get balanced for.

Watch for my next AAR to start tonight.

Actually it just indicates that I was out sick most of last week and just now got to doing things, and wanted to hotfix those ;)

But yea, this week is going to be focused on the last bonus types, a couple other units, the last champion hull size, and another nebula scenario or two.  And that's it for expansion content with the probable exception of more nebula scenarios.

So probably no major mechanics upheavals ;)

The AI is currently looking through the ACME catalog for ways to cook roadrunner.

I'm at least a Sky-Runner I would hope.

Well, I am planning on setting the AI types to the two new ones, the Fortress King and the Heroic one that gets the champion.

And then taking the Zenith Siege Engine just because I can.

The catch though will be that the discussion about defensive strategies recently in another thread has prompted me to experiment.

I've gotten kind of stuck in a fortress-centric defensive strategy so I'm going to limit myself by not unlocking either fortresses or mines this game.


Hmmm, not sure what this has to do with the patch release now, I'll save any further comments for the AAR thread once I start it tonight.

So fast already :O Can't wait for AS to get out on steam. It's actually the 2 new AI and map types and several bonus ships that I'm really interested in, much more so than the Champion. I don't know, I always have trouble accepting complete new features in the game. It took me at least 6 months before I finally started to enjoy all the Spirecraft and Fallen Spire campaign from LotS.
I hate asking stupid questions because I'm positive this has been asked a hundred times before, but... do you happen to know when's the official release date? It's probably not an exact date, but I'm happy with hearing 1-2 months or a few weeks.

The target for "it's ready" is early october, though we may need longer than that for polish/bugfix.  When it will be out is much harder for me to estimate because that involves distributors, etc.
