Warhead Intercept Failing.
« on: September 13, 2011, 08:38:36 am »
I don't know if this is supposed to be happening. But the warhead interceptor really doesn't stop one from using emp/nuke/tachyon on a planet. The round it fires has a travel time that permits one to just scrap their warhead to get the affect. Is this working as intended? I used to it great affect against several hard worlds that had warhead interceptors, even placed literally on top of the wormhole I could still pull it off with a pause order. Maybe having it fire a beam type laser like zenith beam frigates or sniper instead of a ion blast would help this if its not working to order.

Yeah, at the moment it's just completely disabled, actually. Since AI War 4.0 that's been disabled, and very few folks have complained. ;)

I just found it silly the Ai's defense against the warhead was failing. Didn't know it was disabled. What was the reason it was turned off if I may ask?

When we did the porting to AI War 4.0, we basically rejiggered the entire engine.  The warhead interceptors relied on an underlying code thing that got taken out, and I had planned to reimplement them under the hood using a different technique.  But it's a mild time investment, and nobody mentioned it, and I forgot, etc, etc. ;)

well, whenever you got some spare time on your hands (probably after a stable AVWW release), I'd like to see them fixed ^^ The more things the AI has to watch out for, the more I enjoy the game.

I could not agree more. It would be great to have this in once again. The nastier the Ai the better (that is until it beats you 15 hours in grrrr)

Interesting. Hope it gets turned back on and stops firing blanks against my warheads some day. :)

I also have the same problem here. It really doesn't stop one from using emp/nuke/tachyon on a planet. It's completely disabled!

Hiya just wanted to ask if there will be any progress on this issue. It would be such a shame to not have warhead interceptors enabled.
