Not wanting to nit-pick, just reporting ...  ::)
If fortresses no longer can dock ships, shouldnt the destription be changed to no longer say it actually can? (I havent fought them yet, but the AI's stats scare me ....  8))

Yes, they just missed it while making the change, which is 100% understandable. Just make a report in mantis and they will fix it up.

Thanks so much for all the kind words, all!  I'd write more, but my wife would kill me. ;)

Just a quick patch of 4.056 to fix the largest issues in 4.055: http://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Current_Post-4.000_Beta#Prerelease_4.056

Hope there's not anything else like that!

Lol this patch is awesome, but not as awesome as Chris pretending he was trying to sell us something with all those exclamation points hahahaha

oh btw, this just came into mind.... shouldn't fortress baron be one of the harder AI types now? or at least medium? with this much change to the fortresses, he will be more of a challenge to defeat.

Fortress Barons should be okay, the forts are just defensive.  And really, the forts are just going back to their former glory, heh.

Am I the only one that, whenever they see this thread title, immediately gets the Beastie Boy's "Intergalactic" stuck in their head? And yes, I'm aware of both the pronunciation and difference of meaning, but for my deranged subconscious it's apparently close enough.

I've only ever heard that song once or twice and didn't know its or the band's name, but no, you're not the only one.
...Which is really odd because I run into the word "intergalactic" fairly often and usually that doesn't happen.

I study astrophysics for pity's sake, I see it all the time, and yet this is the first time it's caused that sort of association. Odd. Maybe it's the hyphen?  ??? ;D

So, mobile military firepower is still a bit wierd - I had an AI Fortress II on a tier IV that contributed about 29k firepower to the system. Yes, it was tough (200 million health can be a bit of a problem when you've only got tier II bombers) but really? The rest of the system firepower only added another 5k, despite 200-300 tier IV ships being present (an arguably far greater threat to tier II ships, since this was still pretty early game). It seems the huge amount of health continues to overstate the actual threat to attacking fleets. Fortresses are great, but only over time - if you get in close enough with your bombers and are willing to sacrifice a few ships you can usually deal with them fairly easily.

Is anyone else noticing a somewhat recent (last month of beta builds maybe) trend in which engineers have become increasingly fragile? I don't think its that they themselves have become any more fragile, more rather than when in FRD mode, they tend to pitch themselves straight into the middle of combat zones, attempting to repair turrets and ships and getting themselves blown up in the process. It seems that after any major wave or defensive action, I have to rebuild my fleet of mobile engineers on that planet.

I didn't want to post this to Mantis (but will if there is a clear issue), as its just a vague feeling I get. I don't remember having to worry so much about engineers in the past, and while one or two might die on occasionally, not full wipes.
