Yea, that's a pretty normal number; space planes have a fairly high ship cap multiplier too.

Conversely, I just submitted one to Mantis with schizo waves in the ~600 range each (and one ~1000 with planes/raptors to bulk it up) on AIP 20.
Can you reproduce it with Advanced Logging (Settings Window -> Advanced Tab) on, and post your MainThreadWaveComputationLog.txt and AIThreadWaveComputationLog.txt files from the RuntimeData directory?  That lets us all look at the computation and try to pinpoint the actual problem.  Slightly more detail in my response to the mantis record.

Done and done, it should have occurred to me to turn on advanced logging as soon as I saw the wave sizes go hinky, I'd just been reading about that feature. I blame playing at 1 AM!  ;D

just heads up, oversize waves are NOT fixed... started a new game 4.042, 7.6 difficulty tag teamer & special forces captain. hybrids, schitzophrenic waves.

AIP 10, I get a combined total of 2300 ships from the two AIs in the first wave some 15 mins in and die miserably, i'll post the save when I get home from work

Yep :)

There's also a more recent change shifting the random factor down from 1.0-1.3 to 0.8-1.1, so the average is going from 1.15 to 0.95.  Who knows, with all these fixes/changes the result may actually be back towards less-dangerous-than-intended waves ;)

But at least all the parts of the computation are (probably) now all actually what were intended, and we can go from there if necessary.

these new shields, they arent forcefields, are they? as in, there is absolutely no chance they will be covering the command station in an indestructible paradox?

Any word on when we might see 4.043? I'm looking forward to the changes, but more importantly that complex/schizo wave bug has me stuck in a position where I can't actually continue my current game. Don't mean to be a pest, you guys have the most ludicrously customer-friendly patch release schedule I've ever seen, it'd just be nice to know when to check back. :)

Not force fields, no.  They work like the core guard posts do in covering the core command station of the AIs.

People get so confused by that.  It's December 2010, not December 10th.  People thought it was October 10th for CoN, too, heh.  But yes, I need to move that to January.

It will be today -- I had hope to be doing it about... well, now.  But I was on daddy duty all afternoon, and the little guy is having some trouble, etc, again.  We think he's starting to teethe.  So that's thrown around my schedule for today quite a lot, but I expect to still be able to get this out tonight, say within the next 5-6 hours.
