aww I liked the the 3-settlement thing, it made porcing up your homeworld difficult

and cryo/human settlements are now immune to blades? but that FFFFFFFFFF moment when loads of blades cranked into your colony was great  :(

AI eyes sounds awesome  ;D

@ gaurdians, I was thinking they might look better if they moved much slower.. atm they seem too much like mobile ships to really have the feel of defences at all

A number of other balance shifts are in this version, in support of that.  There are no more guardians on planets adjacent to the player home, for instance -- gives folks a little more time to expand easily, and starting next to a mark IV world isn't so much extra harder now.

So a 10 planet hub game has been made much easier?

I'm thinking that I like having a lot more MK I techs available at the beginning of the game. This is not too powerful nor does it make available too much knowledge that was needed to get these toys. Start of game will be significantly better (depending of how you use your allowance) and mid-game hardly gets changed at all. Best of all it will help new players to learn and understand what they have in their arsenal and what they can do with is (my first game I unintentionally got the knowledge hording achievement) ;D

This update feels like the last of the major new content and now we are getting into balancing and preparing to launch. And I know if anyone asks we will only get a cryptic [We'll see ;)]
Of course, this is just for the upcoming release. There will be more, and it too will change everything.

In general, the level of complaining is driving Developer-Progress up and we're considering launching a wave ;)

Hmm, it's getting interesting.  :)
Minimap is neat as it looks like a radar and you press T for it.

May suggest to make information boxes and font size a bit smaller?  ;D

To counterbalance this, I would rather not have to squint the whole time I'm playing the game - my eyesight isn't exactly stellar to begin with.

Yup, we had plenty of people wanting it larger than it used to be.  I think it's a good size right now.

Maybe as part of post-4.0 downloadable content you could make a user configurable control for "Font size" with options for "Normal" or "Small"?

As usual after new release recently I started new game to test things...

Sitting quietly on my home world contemplating a bit of a mess around my home command station I got woken up about 2:30 - one fighter Mk I arrived and started to torture one metal extractor. I ignored it assuming that sentinel frigates will take care of it once built.

But that was a prelude... at around 3:30 another warp in sound.. and viola.. Laser Guardian Mk III appeared from wh and started to fire around at metal extractors.
Few minutes later artillery guardian Mk III joined.

Is there some special warm welcome for testers or something in this build?

PS I can create bug report with save just after guardian entered HW if needed.

Not that it's an issue with the beta exactly but... the Mediafire link doesn't work for me :/ I haven't been keeping up with the Unity beta until recently and today I wanted to try it out, but I don't already have the 3.711 beta. Am I the only one who can't download from the link in the first post?

What error are you getting?  Maybe it was something passing.

"The page isn't redirecting properly - Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." It seemed to work fine for me last night (had to abort the download) and it's working for some friends, so it might be whichever download server Mediafire wants to shuttle me to right now (the status bar keeps switching between "waiting for download222.mediafire.com" and "waiting for www.mediafire.com"). I'll try it again in an hour or two.

Ohh... Then it can't be helped.. but the boxes sometimes get in the way of other details.

And as a final note - at around 28 minutes small fleet of Mk II Zenith viral shredders arrived accompanied by: Artilliery Mk II, Heavy Beam Mk II and 3x Lightning Guardians Mk II.
This seems to be end of this game for sure now.

Haven't had a chance to play around with it any, but just a quick observation/question for those who have had time to play.  Are tractors now overpowered?  By my count, ship count has been significantly reduced (or was that only for humans, not AI), the tractor cap has stayed the same while their price and number they hold and been increased by a factor  of three and their power requirements have been decreased by a factor of five.  Just by the numbers that sounds like players will be able to do a bit too much spamming tractor turrets, especially late game when you can have power to burn.

I'm finding that the "straight lines" shot style is unpleasing to the eye--are there any plans on adding any deviation?
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.
