I thought it was a pain, because often one or the other would require additional defenses anyway because of closeness to wormholes or whatnot..

I'm a one blob kind of guy...I like my stuff consolidated.  ;D I like what I see so far, but I had an external USB drive go out on Friday and it ate up my weekend trying to recover the files....hence, not much time to play. I'll splash around in a new game either tonight or tomorrow to see what's going on.

I prefer a single settlement as well.  When I first started, it was a little confusing, it took me a while to even realize there was more than one settlement there, then took me a bit longer to figure out what went where and what they all did.

I think it's a little better with it all in one place.

Hmm so i fired up AI war tonight first time in about 2 months and boy have things changed. Very first game i got hit with a mark 3 raider guardian 1 min in then noticed there were multiple alerted planets that were not next to me (hadn't even scouted yet). All in all it was pretty fun and i like the direction the game is moving in with guardians and whatnot that is until 15 min into game eye bots showed up and killed all my buildings  :o this was only on diff 7 btw. Still the game has come a hell of a long way from what it was 1 year ago.

Also in regards to the special home world force field we get at start how about making it leave remains when it gets blown up that way we can just rebuild it if it gets blown up.

I'm just wondering, is the reference a response to my "Recommended Targets" idea, or is it something else entirely?
If it is, it's still too complicated for my liking.

The reference is in response to in general requests for that sort of data in a tabular form.

I think that was more themachineissentient's request for giant comprehensive spreadsheet of everything...

Also, raider guardians are annoying - one of them took out my entire group of light starships before I realized what it was. The thing looks more like a anti-armor than a raider :\

Not that I'm really commenting on it one way or the other, but what influenced the decision to "re-blob" the home system?

Having stuff so far away just felt odd, in practice, I think.  It seemed to annoy most veteran players, who preferred to consolidate, and for new players it seemed to be a point of confusion where they didn't even realize that other stuff was out there.

I actually was a big fan of the three settlements rather than one.

Assuming the shift back is here to stay (and it sounds like there are compelling reasons for it to do so) I'd be in favour of exploring similar concepts toward a similar end.

Quite what those might be at this juncture, I have absolutely no idea.

Having one settlement makes things easier to look after - but it causes things to look a bit messy

The reference tab that lists the ship vs. ship bonuses, projected damage, projected winner, etc.,  is a work of pure genius.  I almost shed a tear working with it;  it's so brilliant.

Yes. If you were in the IRC chat last night, you would have heard my excited response. This is above and beyond my request, in a fantastic way…I am thrilled that we have this menu. This is the rule sheet, guys and gals. You can't play rock, paper, scissors, lizard, spock without knowing the order, right?  :D  Now when you face a system or look at the scouting reports, you could also look at the reference data. There are so many ships that I was having trouble memorizing them all, and this alleviates that problem.

There is also some spreadsheets in the runtime directory, although I'm not sure those are updated yet.

Okay, I think I've missed something. What is this spreadsheet you are talking about and how do I find it?
