Crash Bug in v3.0.0.0 when attack-moving ships
« on: January 23, 2010, 02:27:21 pm »
I had a pretty harsh bug just now, an "Unhandled Exception Error". As a programmer myself I know those are the word kinds of exception errors. I'm not really clear what caused it, since I was really into my game, but it seemed to occur right at the moment I had used an alt-move of a collection of ships onto a freshly built command station. The command station wasn't done building itself, and in the selection group I was moving there were (as I recall) two Science Labs, an Advanced Science Lab, a Remote Builder, a Mobile Repair Ship, about fifteen tugs, an a small collection of bombers, frigates, fighters, and tachyon mini-fighters.

My best guess is that it took my action as a "Hey Mobile Builder help build this station!" command, which didn't work and wasn't handled, causing the exception. But, I have no idea how your code works so that's just a guess. I hope this has enough information! Maybe you already fixed it; I'm not exactly using the latest version here...

Without details on what caused the bug, there's nothing I can much do about it, unfortunately.  The game logs an UnhandledExceptions.txt file, which it gave you the location of when it crashed -- if you post the contents of that, I can definitely take a look at it.  If you open the game and look under Settings at the Game Data Location (at the very bottom), it will give the the url to where that file is.

Also, I should note that the latest official version of the game is now 3.016.  I think that Steam has not updated that yet, but you can get it through our forums if you like.  That has a number of bugfixes and such, and quite possibly resolves your issue.  I had hoped that would already have gone up on Steam, but looks like it will be sometime next week.  Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for your support!
