If you download the manual patch linked in the forum topic, that's just a zip file, not something you'd upload into the game -- that's why it is giving you that error. Simply unpack the zip file into your game folder to have it fully update. Or, if you use the in-game updater (if you are not on Steam), it will handle that for you. If you are on Steam or Impulse, they will handle it for you, except that at the moment Steam is being a bit slow and doesn't have that patch (they are busy folks, too).
