Steam overlay annoyance

Is there a way to disable the left shift from being enabled when you get out of the Steam overlay in AIW? It is very annoying to deal with.

I thought they found a way to fix that. Oh well, I believe that this is a problem with the Unity engine. Otherwise I would ask for the esc key to be blocked when exiting the steam overlay in the lobby. When you are setting up a multiplayer game it's annoying when it exits the lobby.

The semi-recent breakthrough we had was to detect when the window had lost focus (except in windowed mode on mac when the moon is full), but I don't believe the steam overlay qualifies as that.
