Autoupdate no longer works

Mac OS X 10.6.6
AI War 5.000, running through Steam.

I can't update to 5.001 beta, either in game or trying to run the autoupdater manually. Double-clicking AIWarAutoUpdater-osx doesn't seem to do anything. Found this in the console:

edit- I tried validating the steam install. It didn't find any issues. That file seems to exist in the app bundle.
edit2 - manually running the "osx-intel" executable seems to work. So maybe that shell script is borked somehow?

You mean there's an osx-intel file inside the AIWarAutoUpdater-osx.app bundle and it works?  I don't actually have a mac so I can't reliably check :)  Chris has a mac though, I thought he'd see this thread, but sometimes our forum's idea of "auto-notify" is a bit... discretionary.

Hmm, normally I would think you'd need to run "chmod +x" on your app bundle folder.  But in this case it looks like you're literally missing a file.

When you look int AIWarAutoUpdater-osx.app, do you find the path AIWarAutoUpdater-osx.app/Contents/MacOS/installbuilder.sh?

You might want to update Info.plist to reference osx-intel as the executable instead of installbuilder.sh.  I'm not sure what is going on, as to why this isn't working on the Steam build.

At any rate, if you want a fully working version, you can use this for the time being: http://www.arcengames.com/share/AIWarAutoUpdater-osx.app.zip

Yes, the shell script is there in the app bundle.

The file you linked to seems to work fine. I replaced the installbuilder.sh from the working bundle into the non-working bundle, and the non-working bundle worked.

I did a diff between the two files. Seems the only difference is that the line endings in the non-working one are "Windows" (CRLF) and working one has Unix (LF) endings.

  Hi I'm having a similar problem as well and I'm not sure what to do.

I haven't played AI War in a long time and felt like picking it up again. I re-downloaded AI War and Zenith Remnant from D2D
and first installed AI War 3.0. But when I go under updates it says there aren't any. I do have Kaspersky 2010 and I tried disabling it
and also running the game as administrator but still couldn't pick up any updates.

If I can get this game working I'm immediately gonna buy Children of Neinzul from Gamersgate.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Vince,

Unfortunately, AI War 3.0 is really, really outdated and we don't support updating directly from that anymore.  You'll need to download the newer 5.0 installer for the game and Zenith Remnant from our downloads page on our site, and then input your keys from D2D, and you'll be all set.

D2D unfortunately hasn't updated their copy of the game since 3.0, nor do they have any of our later expansions.  My contact there left the company, and I haven't yet been able to get up with anyone else.  I'm... not sure what to make of that.  But at any rate, you have nothing to worry about, but you'll need to download the latest versions from us directly.

Sorry for the inconvenience!  But boy, there's a ton of improvements awaiting you with the new version. :)

 Wow that was a very quick response, thanks so much.
Sorry I hadn't realized I could download directly from you then input the keys, I'll do that right away.
And yes I haven't played since version 3.xx so I look forward to the new features.

I was just thinking. Would it be possible to push out an update for the 3.0 versions whose sole purpose is to add a message to the main menu stating that 5.0 is out and where you can get an updated installer and installation directions?

Not particularly easily, no.  I don't have much of that stuff handy at this point, though I could dig it up.

Do you guys have any way to tell how many people are still on old versions? Probably not, since I don't see any reason why you'd put in the effort to get the game to phone home about anything. Just curious!
