Glad I'm not the only Noob out there :-)

1)  I am wanting to transfer some Force Fields to new border planets (I don't think we get enough of them to deploy but that's part of the fun eh?), and I wonder if there is a way to get them to head to a specific location when moving instead of only by clicking a planet on the Galaxy Map.  In other words, can I get them to warp into their new home planet, then head to on to a particular location (like to protect the pre-deployed Command Station or Ship Yard)?

Another:

2) If I'm notified of a Cross Planet attack (nasty things those), and I manage to wipe an adjacent Warp Gate before the CPA comes in, will it effectively nullify that planet as threat for purposes of channeling an attack?

1. Unfortunately no. This is one of those "limitations turned into feature" things, where each planet is like it's own battle ground and you have limited options for inter-planetary commands. However you might be able to get it to go to the command stationby ordering a V-Right Click to the planet in a galaxy view, which sets it in free roaming defender mode (on the command station if you have one)

2. No. What happens is when a cross planet attack comes, the AI orders a total of the specified number of ships (split between a number of planets) to attack your planets. Warp gates have nothing to do with it.
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

Thanks R,

Another:

If I capture a planet and with a Captured Human Settlement, but there are no adjacent Warp Gates, will it still be hit with waves?

Nope, you're safe.  In those cases, Captive Human Settlements are an entirely positive thing for you -- so if you ever see one in a dead end, for instance, it's an awesome thing to grab.  :)

Beautiful...cause it's about to be in a dead end heh.

Next:

I have a high burn of Metal at this stage in the game and it's down from a stockpile of some 500k to 35k  as of this writing.  Yet I still see a ("10 Unused").  What gives with that?

The "# unused" refers to how many metal harvester gather points don't have a metal harvester on them -- on planets you control.  So most likely some of your planets have lost metal harvesters.  On the galaxy map, the C, M, and R keys can easily help you find missing metal harvesters.  If they are continually getting destroyed, you might consider exo-force-fields, but that comes with some tradeoff of income-vs-security.

ah yes ok.  In fact I didn't build those Metal cause I was so close to the 600k limit and I tend not to build harvesters till I have built up defenses in case I get raided.  But in this case I just forgot to build the harvesters and didn't quite notice how fast I was burning through 500k.

Reading posts, I have seen numerous mention of various "Warhead" types.  Yet a few "game time" hours into my 1st game, I've yet to see a way to unlock them.  Are they bonus?  Are they provided by unlocking various ship types?  Zenith only? I checked a few likely candidates for ship types wielding these Warheads in the Wiki, but couldn't find much info besides descriptions of them.  I am going to need some major weapons like these soon :-)

Where can I get some?

They are a part of the base game -- you can build them at the Missile Silo, which is a constructor you can build.  It's in the same tab as space docks, mercenary docks, mobile builders, starship constructors, etc.

So I decided to start a new game since I have learned much in my first game try and wanted to "do it right" this next time around (I didn't have cheats enabled).

I looked at many maps, and finally decided on one.  I started the game up.

And Lo....an Exo-Worm Hole practically on top of my Home World Command Station....

I'm now convinced you dev's are sadistic :-)

If I had a few games under my belt I might EVEN have tried this map but ....heh.  Back to the Generator...

The exo-wormhole is due to the fact that one of your opponents is the backdoor-hacker type.  Its a reasonably easy type besides the exo-wormhole, but it means you always need to keep quite a bit of defense at your homeworld.
