About Health and Mana Bar and Spell bar
« on: May 23, 2012, 02:08:24 pm »
I posted a request to the Mantis board last month and updated it today, but wanted to ask other people so i can see if i am the only one... and ask for your support please.

But the health and mana and planning buttons on the game screen seem too large. I have a 1366 x 768 screen on my laptop, it is a 5 year old Compaq, so it is not the latest and greatest, but the game runs well and i enjoy it, except for the controls.

I had suggested perhaps the bars could appear when they are affected, like getting hit and losing health, or when getting low on mana.

And moving the planning button off screen entirely to some key combo button.

Anyway, i need some support in order for the devs to consider my suggestion as something other than just being ponyriffic, which it probably sounds like, and i'm sorry for that, but it really isn't, it just really, 'really' REALLY bothers me when the buttons cover up part of the screen and i am trying to lay boards or boxes down, or shoot at enemies below me or to the side, or jumping lower in the caverns, or moving left into parts of caves or rooms!  I mean really, it just makes playing the game more difficult and  a pain than it should have to be.

Anyway, i'm not griping, i am just trying to politely describe my frustration and ask for peoples opinions, and if you agree with me, please say so, so that we can try to get the buttons moved or resized, or disappearing or something, Ok?

Thank you for listening,  :)
Sincerely,

-Teal

p.s.  In my post on Mantis i told the devs i was polite and didn't post it to the forums, which is now wrong, but i am still trying to be polite and not all gripey and or rude. i mean i am not going into a cursing session or anything, i just want some support and am trying to let people know without coming across as a total pain. Anyway thank you for listening.

p.s.s. Did i add that i think you all are doing a GREAT job and i really think the game looks nice? I mean i want you to know i think you are doing good, and i don't want to just gripe all the time. Thank you.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for support for a Mantis ticket in the forums. :) This is the best way to raise our awareness of a ticket you think is important.

As for weather or not you sound "ponyriffic" in the ticket, my guess is that you are not, but, I'm not entirely sure what ticket it is. You aren't coming across that way in this post.

May I make a suggestion? Put a link to the Mantis ticket in your post so that I and others can see it, and maybe even support it. :)

A while ago i suggested to make the planning button toggleable, since that never happened i found a way to visually remove it.

Inside Images\Misc you'll find HUDButton.png, load it up in photoshop/gimp, erase everything and save it as png with transparency. after that you'll have to edit avww.xml under language\en and remove "Planning" inside the HudManagement key so it looks like <ln id="HUDManagementAndPlanning"></ln>. The second step needs to be done after every update again.

Maybe this helps a bit :)

The planning button is kinda togglable, actually; it only shows up if there are no enemies in the chunk.
